Accessible off the Indian Gorge turnoff at mile marker ()off S2, Torote Canyon is a great day hike.

The hike starts up a sandy wash and soon you find the canyon walls rising up around you. At about the half mile point you will come upon the first Elephant Tree. Not much to look at unless they are in bloom, but they are quite rare in this part of the Desert .
