In May of 1993 we
purchased MuMu when we were living on the garden island of Kauai. |

Turns out
the original owner 'Calvin Tokita' used the FJ40 for hunting on the west side
of Kauai, which accounted for the 23,000 miles. |

The FJ40 was in beautiful condition complete with the original spare tire. All documentation was still intact. I offered him $6000 and he accepted it. I drove MuMu away from his house in Lihue and I could see that his eyes were teary. I assured him that I would take good care of his special 4X4. |

Bob and baby Kaiel East Side of Kauai |
|
We ended up leaving Kauai the following September so I could return to school. The remaining time on Kauai was spent driving on the secluded beaches searching for waves. I had never driven a Land Cruiser before and was AMAZED at how easy it handled driving on the soft sand. Previously we had been driving a lifted 1985 4Runner, which performed pretty well, but the Land Cruiser just felt like this is what it was made for. |

Kaiel's first ride from the hospital to our home in Wailua was in an FJ40. |

Kaiel’s first hiking trip on the East Side
of Kauai. I think he is a couple weeks old here. |
